How the government’s 2026–2029 programmeaffects citizens

15-01-2026 10:49 AM

Raad Mahmoud Al-Tal
The government has launched its Executive Program for 2026–2029 based on four connected pillars. Together, they aim to turn national plans into real results. The real focus of this program is people. Policies matter only if they improve daily life. Citizens want to know one thing. How will this programme raise incomes, create jobs, and improve public services.

The first pillar is economic growth. Growth is the main way to increase incomes, create jobs, and strengthen public revenues. This pillar follows the second Executive Program of the Economic Modernization Vision. It focuses on speeding up major projects, investment projects, and public–private partnerships worth about 10 billion Jordanian dinars. Growth here is not a goal by itself. It is a tool to move the real economy, increase demand for workers, and allow the state to spend more on development and social needs.

For this to succeed, the economy must remain stable between 2026 and 2029. This means stable regional conditions, strong fiscal and monetary policies, and sufficient foreign reserves. It also requires continued capital spending, higher foreign investment, and steady growth in exports. Without these conditions, growth will be weak and its impact on people will be limited.

The second pillar is modernizing public administration. This is a major change in how the state works. Economic growth alone is not enough. Citizens will only feel its impact if public institutions work efficiently. The public sector modernization program aims to improve government performance, raise the quality of services, manage public money better, and build trust and cooperation with citizens. Its real value lies in turning plans into action, using data and evidence, and directing resources to activities that deliver the greatest benefit.

The third pillar is digital transformation. This is the main tool that supports all other pillars. Digital transformation is not just about technology. It is about making government services faster, simpler, and more transparent. Digitizing services, reducing procedures, and cutting time and costs will improve efficiency, reduce waste, and create a fairer environment. When this pillar succeeds, citizens will deal with a government that is easier and quicker to work with.

The fourth pillar is social protection. This pillar brings all the others together. Growth, better administration, and digital services have little value if people do not feel socially secure. Social protection programs aim to support the most vulnerable groups, reduce inequality, and ensure that the benefits of growth reach everyone. Strong social protection also supports social stability, which is essential for economic stability.

Overall, the 2026–2029 Executive Program is a unified national plan. It links projects and programs to clear timelines and ongoing monitoring and evaluation. Its success will be measured by clear results. These include real economic growth, new jobs for Jordanians, higher investment, and stronger exports.

The true importance of this program does not lie in its slogans or documents. It lies in its ability to deliver real change. Citizens should feel the impact in their income, job opportunities, and the quality of services they receive. If the government succeeds, it will move from planning to results. This is what people have been waiting for, and it is a reason for cautious optimism.
