King visits PSD, checks on its readiness to deal with weather conditions

Ammon News - His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, visited the Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Tuesday and checked on its preparations for dealing with winter weather conditions, and its key security plans and strategies.

His Majesty, accompanied by PSD Director Maj. Gen. Obeidallah Maaytah, was briefed by the assistant director of public security for operations and training on the directorate’s most notable achievements in 2025 and its development and modernisation projects for 2026, particularly those related to enhancing the use of technology and artificial intelligence in police and security systems.

The briefing also touched on the most prominent awareness-raising and field measures to be implemented by the Royal Department for Environment and Tourism Protection and other PSD units, as part of efforts to reduce littering.

The King commended the PSD’s efforts in ensuring public safety in all circumstances, its role in combating crime, improving security performance, and expanding the range of services provided to citizens and residents in the areas of policing and civil service.

His Majesty emphasised that the introduction of modern technologies and smart systems represents a qualitative leap in the level of security response and quality of services, urging the PSD to continue to keep pace with the latest developments in order to advance the security system throughout the Kingdom.

The King also expressed his pride and appreciation for PSD personnel, commending their continuous efforts to protect the homeland and its citizens, uphold rights, and establish the rule of law, thereby enhancing Jordan’s security and stability.

For his part, Maaytah affirmed that the PSD’s achievements in implementing its security strategy have been made possible thanks to His Majesty’s support and direct oversight, and highlighted the PSD’s continued expansion of the use of technology and artificial intelligence to increase the readiness of field units, speed up the provision of services to citizens, and enhance the ability to predict and reduce crime.
