Ammon News - The government announced on Monday, the details of its Government’s Executive Programme for 2026-2029, which was launched on Monday under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II and in the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah.
During a press briefing at the Prime Ministry, Minister of Government Communications and official government spokesperson, Mohammad Momani, stated that the Executive Programme for 2026-2029 was developed and all its provisions and details were determined based on His Majesty the King's vision for the comprehensive modernization of the Jordanian state.
Momani noted that the components of this program, in all their details and sectors, should be viewed as part of the comprehensive modernization project for the Jordanian state.
He explained that the main pillars of the executive program are: the executive program for the economic modernization vision, the executive program for public sector modernization, digital transformation, the digital economy, and the social protection program.
All programs were developed in consultation with hundreds of experts and specialists from the public and private sectors, Momani added.
Momani stressed that modernization projects in the Jordanian state transcend governments, are undertaken by successive governments, and include dozens of projects and initiatives, and are characterized by being time-bound, and where these various initiatives and projects will be funded.
For her part, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan explained that the Executive Programme for the Economic Modernization Vision adopted a participatory approach through 18 sectoral workshops with the participation of approximately 650 experts.
Toukan stated that the program includes 126 indicators and 13 action plans to improve Jordan's ranking in international reports, and encompasses 392 projects with an estimated cost of 3.8 billion dinars.
She revealed that 495 schools will be rehabilitated and 70,000 teachers will be trained in the next phase. The program also includes the railway and light rail project, and the development of land for low-cost housing in the city of Amra.
Minister of State for Public Sector Development Badriya Balbisi affirmed that the Executive Program for modernizing the public sector will enhance faster, easier, and more equitable services for citizens.
Balbisi explained that the government is adopting artificial intelligence and modern technologies to increase the efficiency of government performance and improve the quality of services.
A public sector modernization index will be launched to provide decision-makers with the necessary data, and the National Academy of Government Administration will also be launched to train government leaders, the minister added.
Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Samir Smirat, stated that the Executive Program for 2026-2029 places digital transformation at the heart of modernizing the public sector and improving the quality of government services.
He explained that this digital transformation complements the role of the National Council for Future Technology through strategic initiatives encompassing artificial intelligence, national data, and digital services.
Smirat also announced the establishment of a data center to host government data and safeguard citizens' data.
