Ammon News - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources announced its intention to renew the memorandum of understanding (MoU) for importing Iraqi oil under the same terms and specifications as the previous agreement, thereby strengthening energy cooperation between the two countries.

The Ministry confirmed that it is currently in discussions with the Iraqi side to renew the memorandum of understanding for importing Iraqi oil for an additional year.

This follows the expiration of the previous memorandum of understanding, which ended on June 26, 2025, and was subsequently extended until the end of last year.

The Ministry stated that the Jordan Petroleum Refinery in Zarqa received 891,388 barrels of Iraqi crude oil between October 5 and December 31, 2025, in accordance with the previous memorandum of understanding signed between the governments of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Republic of Iraq, which was extended on September 17 of last year.

According to the memorandum, this measure was taken to complete the shipments that were not loaded during the previous period due to logistical reasons. Loading resumed on October 5th and concluded on December 31st, 2025.

This step comes within the framework of strengthening ongoing cooperation between Jordan and Iraq in the energy sector and consolidating economic relations between the two brotherly countries, serving their common interests and contributing to the Kingdom's energy security.
