Ammon News - The Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) forecast that the Kingdom will gradually be affected on Friday by a cold and moist low-pressure system centered north of Cyprus. A noticeable drop in temperatures is expected, with cold and partly cloudy weather turning cloudy, and rainfall beginning in the northern regions before extending to most parts of the country.
During the evening hours, the cold front associated with the low-pressure system will pass, leading to intensified rainfall that may be heavy at times in the northern and central regions, southwestern areas, as well as the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea. Thunderstorms and hail may accompany the rain, increasing the risk of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas and causing a rise in water levels.
Preliminary analyses indicate that during the night and early Saturday morning hours, there is a possibility of light, intermittent snow showers on the high peaks of the Sharah Mountains.
Friday Warnings:
High risk of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas in the northern and central regions and southwestern parts of the Kingdom, including the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea.
Risk of reduced horizontal visibility due to fog, low clouds, and heavy rainfall.
Advice:
Exercise caution due to slippery roads.
Avoid attempting to cross flooded areas and flash flood channels.
The JMD urged citizens to follow the latest updates through its official website and social media pages.
