Ammon News - Deposed Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro arrived at New York federal courthouse.

Television footage on Monday showed Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife being transported, under heavy security, to a New York City court for a court appearance.

The footage showed Maduro in a car surrounded by security personnel before it stopped at a secure location. He and his wife were then transferred to a helicopter that transported them to the court in Manhattan.

Maduro is seen exiting an armored vehicle that was part of the motorcade. He is wearing a tan jumpsuit.

Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were scheduled to appear in a U.S. federal court later on Monday.

The 66-year-old president and his 69-year-old wife were charged with conspiracy to traffic drugs and terrorism, conspiracy to import cocaine, possession of machine guns and explosive devices, and conspiracy to possess machine guns and explosive devices against the United States, in the Southern District Court of New York on Saturday.
