Egypt Prepares to Hold Early Recovery Conference on Gaza in November

21-10-2025 09:22 AM

Ammon News - Egypt is holding a series of contacts with international powers to push forward a plan for the reconstruction of Gaza in preparation of an international conference on the enclave that will be held in Cairo in November.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held on Monday telephone talks with his French counterpart Jean-Noel Barrot and his Danish counterpart Lars Lokke Rasmussen to discuss the preparations for the Gaza early recovery, reconstruction and development conference.

Abdelatty stressed the importance of kicking off early recovery and reconstruction plans a soon as possible as part of a comprehensive vision that preserves the rights of the Palestinian people and in line with the Arab-Islamic early recovery and reconstruction plan set in March and US President Donald Trump peace plan for the Middle East.

The FM called on European countries to participate effectively in the conference.

For their part, the French and Danish FMs said they look forward to continuing coordination with Egypt over Gaza and in preparation of the conference.

Abdelatty had previously held telephone talks with his counterparts from Italy, Spain, Germany, Canada and Algeria as part of the preparations.

Member of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs Dr. Ahmed Fouad Anwar said Cairo is adamant on preventing the displacement of the Palestinian people and holding the conference will help to that end.

Egypt is trying to give the Palestinian hope amid the devastation in Gaza, he told Asharq Al-Awsat.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi declared on Sunday that his country will hold the conference in November. He urged the Egyptian people to help in the reconstruction effort and tasked the prime minister to coordinate with civil society groups and relevant international parties to set up a donations platform to help finance the effort.
