Salt Hosts Moroccan Delegation, Explores Twinning with Fez, Meknes

Ammon News - A high-level Moroccan delegation on Monday visited the Greater Salt Municipality to discuss strengthening cooperation and launching a twinning initiative with the cities of Fez and Meknes. The visit was organized by the Jordanian Embassy in Rabat in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs.

Discussions focused on establishing a formal twinning framework between Salt and the Moroccan cities, capitalizing on shared cultural and heritage features and their mutual commitment to preserving tangible and intangible heritage. The two sides also explored avenues of cooperation in tourism, traditional crafts, and the exchange of technical expertise.

Salt Mayor Khalid Batayneh highlighted the depth of Jordanian-Moroccan relations, underscored by the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Majesty King Mohammed VI. He showcased Salt’s historical landmarks and its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, "City of Tolerance and Urban Hospitality."

Khadija Yaakoubi, Vice President of the Fez-Meknes Regional Council expressed optimism for stronger cooperation in tourism, culture, and heritage. She also announced the resumption of direct flights between Jordan and Morocco starting next month.
