Jordan welcomes Canada, Malta's intention to recognize Palestinian state

31-07-2025 03:34 PM

Ammon News - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the announcement by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Maltese Prime Minister Robert Abela of their countries' intention to officially recognize the State of Palestine during the UN General Assembly next September.

The Ministry described this move as a significant and positive step toward ending the occupation and achieving the two-state solution.

Ambassador Sufyan Qudah, the Ministry's official spokesperson, affirmed the Kingdom's appreciation for the declaration by the Canadian and Maltese prime ministers, which represents a response to international efforts aimed at further recognizing the Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967, lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the two-state solution, in line with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Qudah reiterated the Kingdom's firm position in continuing to work with its international partners and brothers to support the Palestinian people's right to freedom, an end to the occupation, self-determination, and the establishment of an independent state on its national soil.
