Ammon News - After days of unrelenting heat, the Kingdom is finally getting a slight break from the scorching conditions that have gripped much of the country. The edge has come off the heatwave, though summer still has plenty to say.

In the capital and across the highlands and plains, Monday brings relatively hot weather, but it’s a noticeable step down from the extremes of recent days. Out in the desert, however, the heat remains stubborn, while the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba are once again baking under intense sun, with temperatures soaring well into the mid-forties.

Winds out of the northwest are offering some relief, blowing at moderate speeds and occasionally picking up. In the open desert, though, that breeze is stirring up dust, reducing visibility in the afternoon and adding a gritty layer to the already harsh conditions.

The Meteorological Department is urging caution particularly during peak daylight hours. Direct exposure to the sun, especially around midday, could be dangerous, and those traveling through desert regions should be on alert for blowing dust and reduced visibility.

By Tuesday, the heatwave will have mostly moved on. Temperatures are expected to dip slightly, settling back into what’s typical for this time of year. The weather will feel more familiar warm and dry across most of the country, still hot in the desert and low-lying areas, but no longer as punishing. A few low clouds may drift over the northern and central skies, and the winds, still from the west, may pick up during the afternoon.

That pattern looks set to hold through the middle of the week. Wednesday and Thursday are shaping up to deliver classic Jordanian summer days: clear, dry, and hot in the usual places, with some gentle cloud cover up north and the same pattern of afternoon breezes sweeping through from the northwest.

As for today’s temperatures, Amman is split by elevation: East Amman is expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius, while the west tops out at 33. The northern highlands will see a high of 32, and the cooler peaks of the Sharah region will stay around 31. In the desert, it’s a blistering 40 degrees, while the plains come in just behind.
