Jordan welcomes Congo peace deal signed in Doha

Ammon News - The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs on Sunday welcomed the signing of a Declaration of Principles between the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Congo River Alliance, known as the M23 Movement. The agreement was signed in the State of Qatar.

In an official statement, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ambassador Sufyan Qudah affirmed Jordan’s support for the declaration, describing it as a meaningful step toward enhancing peace and security across the African continent. He emphasized the Kingdom’s firm position in supporting diplomatic initiatives aimed at resolving conflicts through peaceful means.

Qudah also expressed appreciation for Qatar’s mediation efforts, highlighting the country’s role in facilitating the agreement. He said the declaration represents an important step toward national reconciliation and a potential turning point for greater stability in eastern Congo. Petra
