Momani: Jordan will not allow any party to use its airspace

17-06-2025 09:44 AM

Ammon News - Jordan is approaching the current military escalation in the region with a steadfast commitment to protecting its national sovereignty and security, according to Government Spokesperson and Minister of Government Communications Mohammad Momani.

In press remarks late Monday, Momani emphasized that His Majesty King Abdullah II has consistently affirmed since the crisis's onset that Jordan will not allow any party to use its airspace or territory for conflicts or hostile acts.

"Based on His Majesty's directives, Jordan can under no circumstances be an arena for hostilities between parties," Momani stated. "The Kingdom is a sovereign state, and its mission is to preserve its security and stability."

He asserted that Jordan will never tolerate any violation of its sovereignty and will take appropriate measures, consistent with international state practices, to respond to any aggression or infringement.

Momani clarified that Jordan's objective is clear: to preserve national security, the Kingdom's stability, and the safety of citizens' lives and property. He noted the government's high efficiency and continuous readiness to minimize the crisis's impact on all aspects of Jordanian state interests.

The Minister stressed that Jordan's position is unequivocally clear: it does not interfere in defending any party to the conflict, but rather focuses on maintaining its own security and stability and avoiding involvement in conflicts not directly concerning it.

Momani also detailed the government's operational response, stating, "We have been present at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management since the first day of the crisis's outbreak. We receive information from various state institutions, including representatives from the Arab Army, Air Force, Public Security, and multiple ministries. This center provides us with the capacity to effectively and appropriately manage and respond to the crisis."

He added, "As a group specialized in media and communication, we were responsible for formulating and disseminating messages, determining the best ways to handle events, and defining the media message the Jordanian state wanted to convey during such crises from the beginning. Our work involved continuous communication with various media institutions, as we dealt with some misleading, false, and inciting news aimed at undermining Jordan's position during the crisis."

Momani reiterated that a clear media strategy was established from the outset to deal with escalating events and official statements, stressing the importance of relying on official sources and avoiding the circulation of rumors and misleading information, especially given the increase in false news during crises.

He also mentioned a legal dimension to their response, which involves monitoring any publications or discussions that violate the law or threaten Jordanian national security, leading to appropriate legal action.

Momani affirmed the ongoing media engagement, both in traditional and social media, to counter any news or campaigns inciting against Jordan's stance and national constants, with the aim of preserving Jordan's image and its consistent position calling for regional stability.

He reiterated Jordan's commitment to protecting its sovereignty and national security, emphasizing the necessity of confronting any attempts to violate Jordanian airspace or endanger citizens' safety.

"Protecting citizens' security and national sovereignty is a sacred duty of the Jordanian state, and we are continuously working to achieve this," Momani concluded. Petra
