Lebanese President: I will discuss with King supporting national institutions, especially Army

Ammon News - Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun said he was pleased to visit the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at the invitation of His Majesty King Abdullah II, emphasizing that the visit reflects the deep-rooted and historic brotherly ties between the two countries, built on mutual respect and constructive cooperation.

Upon his arrival in the Kingdom today, President Aoun noted that the visit comes at a critical time for the region, marked by escalating challenges and an urgent need to unify Arab efforts to confront shared crises, counter terrorism and extremism, and safeguard regional security and stability.

He added that he would be discussing with His Majesty the King ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation across all sectors with a particular focus on supporting national institutions, especially the Lebanese Army.

He also pointed to the Syrian refugee issue, which continues to place a significant burden on both Lebanon and Jordan, stressing the need for a just solution that ensures the safe and dignified return of refugees to their homeland.

President Aoun further highlighted the importance of bolstering economic and trade cooperation, and promoting the exchange of expertise in ways that serve the interests of both peoples and contribute to sustainable development that enhances the resilience of both countries in the face of ongoing challenges.

He expressed deep appreciation for Jordan’s unwavering support for Lebanon in various forums and for the assistance consistently extended under the guidance of His Majesty King Abdullah II.

He also thanked the Jordanian leadership and people for the warm welcome and genuine hospitality, expressing hope that this visit would mark a new chapter in the enduring fraternal partnership between Lebanon and Jordan. Petra
