Ammon News - A fire at a major hospital in Hamburg, Germany, killed at least three people and injured more than 50 others overnight before it was contained, the authorities said early Sunday.
At least two of the people injured by the fire at Hamburg’s Marien Hospital were in critical condition, the city’s Fire Department said in a statement.
The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.
It broke out in a ward with a high number of patients who were old or had impaired mobility, the Fire Department said. Firefighters arrived after midnight to find a room on the ground floor fully ablaze.
As the fire threatened to spread higher, people trapped by smoke on the upper floors called for help from their windows, the department said. But firefighters contained the fire and evacuated patients by ladder. NYT
