6.1-magnitude earthquake strikes Greece, authorities issues tsunami warning

Ammon News - Tourists on the popular holiday island of Crete have been warned to "move away from the coast" after an earthquake sparked a tsunami warning.

The magnitude 6.1 earthquake was recorded on the island this morning as seismologists issued warnings to "move away from the coast and reach a higher place" as a precaution

Tremors have been felt as far as Turkey, Egypt and Israel today, with authorities said to be prepared for aftershocks. The mayor of Agios Nikolaos, Manolis Menegakis, told Mega TV station: "We are vigilant." It comes after a powerful 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck near the coast of Crete last week. The Mirror
