Jordan to continue war on drugs 'firmly'-PSD chief

Ammon News - Director of Public Security Directorate (PSD), Maj. Gen. Dr. Obeidallah Maaitah, said the Kingdom's war against the scourge of drugs will continue at the "highest" levels of joint coordination and action with Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF)– Arab Army and the security services.

During a visit to the 25th Gendarmerie Battalion of the Eastern Command in the Ruwaished District on Wednesday, Maaitah checked on readiness of security divisions and reviewed the level of security-based and humanitarian services provided to citizens.

Maaitah conveyed greetings of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the JAF Supreme Commander and His Majesty's pride in the efforts of PSD's personnel and their dedication to serving the nation and its citizens.

Calling for continued steps to enhance operational readiness and develop the current services, he commended "successes" achieved by the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND), the Gendarmerie Forces, and the Royal Badia Police, which resulted in seizing "large" quantities of narcotics and arresting drug smugglers and dealers.

Maaitah also referred to these security teams' endeavors in "decisively and efficiently" preventing drug traders from transporting their toxins within the Kingdom or in neighboring countries.

Maaitah pointed out the PSD's commitment to supporting its units with all necessary technical and technological capabilities to ensure a "stronger" sense of security and provide "comprehensive services to citizens under all circumstances."

On future plans, he directed expansion of community-related services and frameworks for communication and cooperation with the local communities. Petra
