Ministry: Poultry imports suspension from Brazil will not affect local market

19-05-2025 03:32 PM

Ammon News - Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply spokes person Yanal Baramawi, on Monday confirned that the decision to halt poultry imports from "Brazil" will not affect the availability of chicken in the local market, emphasizing that sufficient quantities are available to meet demand, particularly from local production, in addition to the availability of multiple import alternatives, such as from Ukraine.

In a remarks to "Ammon", Baramawi noted that imported quantities, including from Brazil, represent a small percentage, not exceeding 5% of the total frozen chicken imported.

The market relies primarily on local production, which is expected to increase in the coming weeks with rising temperatures, contributing to a surplus during some months of the year, he added.

Regarding prices, Baramawi indicated that they are currently within their normal range compared to previous years, with expectations of a decline in the coming period due to increased local production and lower production costs during the summer.
