Ammon News - Head of the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) Raed Al Khattab, on Monday, confirmed that as the 2024/2025 rainy season draws to a close, rainfall across the Kingdom remains below long-term averages, marking the current season as weak nationally to date.
The achieved rainfall rates, compared to the general seasonal average, ranged between 15% and 79% in various regions.
Al Khattab pointed out that the Southern Jordan Valley region recorded the best rainfall performance in the Kingdom this season, at 79% of its annual average, while the city of Aqaba recorded the weakest performance, at only 15% of its seasonal average, while the highest rainfall total for this season was recorded at Ras Munif station, at 303.3 mm, which constitutes 52% of its annual seasonal average.
He explained that this decline in rainfall directly impacts the water and agricultural situation, noting the importance of raising community awareness of the importance of rationalizing water consumption and preparing to address the impacts resulting from this decline.
