Ammon News - The Southern Military Zone, in coordination with the military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND), thwarted an attempt to smuggle drugs using a drone on Friday evening on its western front, an official military source in the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF)-Arab Army announced.

In a statement, the source added that border guard forces in the zone implemented the rules of engagement after monitoring and tracking the drone.

The drone was intercepted and downed inside Jordanian territory, and the seized items were transferred to the relevant authorities, the official said.

The source affirmed the JAF is working "firmly and resolutely" to prevent entry of these narcotics for Jordanian citizens and jeopardize national security.
