Jordan provides lifeline to over 1.5 million Gazans amid war, overcoming major obstacles

07-04-2025 01:03 PM

Ammon News - Under the Royal directives, Jordan continues its steadfast efforts to support the people of Gaza as they endure a devastating humanitarian crisis driven by ongoing Israeli aggression.

Despite numerous challenges, including prolonged border closures and a suspension of land aid convoys for over a month, Jordan has remained relentless in delivering critical humanitarian assistance.

The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) has implemented alternative approaches by collaborating with grassroots organisations within Gaza to ensure the steady delivery of aid to families in need.

Jordan continues to push for the reopening of border crossings and is actively engaging in diplomatic efforts to facilitate aid access, recognising the urgent need for food, medicine, and essential supplies.

Marking Eid al-Fitr, JHCO launched a series of relief initiatives aimed at supporting Gaza’s most vulnerable. These included distributing festive clothing for children, holiday sweets, monetary gifts, and Zakat al-Fitr donations, reaching more than 4,300 families in cooperation with local partners to bring comfort and joy during the holiday.

“Despite immense challenges and aid delivery disruptions, our support for the people of Gaza remains steadfast,” said JHCO Secretary-General Hussein Shibli. “So far, we’ve reached over 1,566,144 beneficiaries inside the Strip.”

“Under His Majesty King Abdullah II’s guidance, we are exploring every possible channel to sustain our aid efforts,” he added. “During the border closures alone, we provided more than 220,000 meals, as well as clean water and Eid essentials to many families.”

These ongoing efforts reflect Jordan’s principled humanitarian commitment and enduring solidarity with the Palestinian people, affirming the Kingdom’s determination to support Gaza until stability and normal life are restored.
