Ammon News - Minister of Industry and Trade Yarub Qudah clarified on Sunday that the United States' recently announced tariff changes are part of a broader global trade strategy and are not specifically directed at Jordan.
“These tariffs will have some impact on Jordanian exports to the US,” Qudah stated in remarks to Petra, adding that the Jordanian government is actively working on measures to enhance the competitiveness of affected industries in response to Washington’s policy adjustments.
He stressed the importance of maintaining the country’s strong economic ties with the United States, saying: “We highly value our partnership with the US and are engaging in constructive dialogue with American counterparts to find practical solutions.”
Qudah also highlighted the significance of the 25-year-old Free Trade Agreement between Jordan and the United States, noting that it has played a major role in boosting Jordanian exports to the American market and increasing US goods entering Jordan.
“This agreement has helped build our export capabilities,” he said, expressing Jordan’s intention to further grow its exports and expand bilateral trade in the near future.
