Ammon News - Jordan Customs Department (JCD) announced on Wednesday that it will suspend cargo traffic to the Jaber border crossing during Eid al-Fitr holiday, at the request of the Syrian side.
The department added that passenger flow through the designated terminal will operate "as usual without any changes."
The department indicated that cargo movement from other border points for Jaber crossing will be halted to prevent truck congestion.
In a statement Wednesday, JCD Director General, Maj.Gen. Ahmed Akalik, said all "necessary" measures have been taken to handle movement of passengers and cargo during the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
Akalik stated this plan will be implemented by taking the "necessary" measures to facilitate passenger flow.
Akalik indicated that customs centers have been boosted with "qualified" personnel to facilitate passengers and goods flow.
Akalik noted this process aligns with traffic intensity, as part of an emergency plan prepared for this occasion, aimed to achieve a balance between facilitation and compliance.
Akalik called on directors of border crossings to take all necessary measures to ensure workflow, in coordination with the relevant agencies, which operate round the clock to enable all visitors and expatriates to complete their transactions "smoothly and adequately".
Pledging continued efforts to serve the Kingdom and citizens, Akalik said this effort comes in coordination with the official and security agencies at the border centers.
Akalik said this process seeks to overcome all difficulties and facilitate customs procedures at all stages, in line with the government's vision to facilitate transactions for citizens and visitors. Petra
