Ammon News - Chairman of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC) Haitham Misto said that the commission will conduct a test flight to Aleppo International Airport in the coming days as part of a comprehensive assessment before deciding on the resumption of commercial flights between Jordan and Syria.
The test flight will be accompanied by a Jordanian technical team to evaluate operational security and safety for national carriers flying to and from Aleppo International Airport, Misto said in a statement.
He added that the move follows an official request by Royal Jordanian Airlines to operate flights to Aleppo, after previously receiving approval to resume flights to Damascus International Airport.
Syria’s Civil Aviation Authority has announced that Aleppo International Airport will reopen to air traffic starting Tuesday, March 18.
