Jordan Begins Evacuation of First Group of 2,000 Sick Gazan Children

04-03-2025 12:59 PM

Ammon News - Under Royal directives, Jordanian ambulances and military buses have arrived in the Gaza Strip to evacuate the first group of sick children.

This initiative involves transporting 2,000 sick children from Gaza to Jordan to receive necessary medical treatment from specialized medical teams in both public and private Jordanian hospitals. The children will be returned to Gaza upon completion of their treatment in Jordan.

On Tuesday, approximately 40 children from Gaza were evacuated to Jordan by air and land via Jordanian ambulances as part of the first group of 2,000 children that Jordan has committed to treating.

Several international organizations have expressed their readiness and willingness to provide support.

His Majesty King Abdullah II announced during his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington on February 11 that Jordan would evacuate around 2,000 children suffering from cancer and other severe medical conditions from Gaza for treatment, as part of Jordan’s ongoing humanitarian efforts in the region.

This humanitarian initiative reflects King Abdullah II’s continuous support for Gazans and reaffirms the deep fraternal ties between the Jordanian and Palestinian people.

It also underscores Jordan’s commitment to providing medical aid and healthcare to those in need in Gaza.

The evacuation of children from Gaza to Jordan is being coordinated with the World Health Organization and relevant entities to ensure all necessary medical and logistical arrangements for this humanitarian operation.

This effort comes at a difficult time for the Gaza Strip, where many children suffer from illnesses requiring urgent and immediate medical care.
