Jobkins Centre for Strategic Studies warns of the danger of solar activity this year

24-02-2025 02:47 PM

Ammon News - In a report published by Jobkins Center for Strategic Studies regarding solar activity, it was stated that the year 2025 will remain within the solar peak period, and it is expected that sunspots and higher solar flares will appear frequently, and coronal mass ejections towards the Earth through explosions on the surface of the sun which it releases light, energy and solar materials, and will continue until the middle of this year to reach its total peak, solar storms are likely to occur after the peak, as the report recommended caution until the end of 2030, as the center made contacts with several scientists specialized in this field.

The current solar cycle no. 25 began at the end of 2019, which last almost 11 years. Last year, a strong G5 geomagnetic storm occurred in May, followed by another G4 storm in October of the same year.

The report published by Jobkins Centre for Strategic Studies dealt with the expected damage as a result of these storms, namely:
It will cause risks and impact on electric power grids both on the ground and those that power the engines of artificial satellites and aircraft as a result of a change in the magnetic field that generates continuous electric currents in the electric power transmission wires, which may cause damage to generators and transformers, as well as disconnecting communications with satellites and aircraft in addition to the operated from satellite-connected operations centers the ionosphere is one of the upper layers of the atmosphere, which contains free electrons and charged ions, and therefore it is used in the field of communications to reflect "radio waves", in addition to affecting the health of astronauts on their flights and may lead to death due to exposure to this magnetic field, and these radiations may affect humans on earth despite the presence of the atmosphere.

The General Manager of the centre, engineer Mohannad Abbas Haddadin, recommended that there should always be alternative sources of energy in case of power outages, as well as for important communications, and the use of electrical circuits with various filters to get rid of radiation of unwanted frequencies to protect the electrical circuits of these devices to keep them working.

On the other hand, it is possible to watch the effect of the solar storm at the North and South poles of the Earth, when charged particles approach the Earth's atmosphere, the geomagnetic field tries to push them away and deflect their path towards the poles to interact with air atoms in the upper atmosphere layers, forming beautiful colors above the poles where this phenomenon is called "Aurora borealis".
