08-02-2025 03:48 PM

Ammon News - Jordan on Sunday marks the 48th anniversary of Her Majesty the late Queen Alia Al Hussein, who passed away on February 9, 1977, during an inspection trip, performing her humanitarian duty towards citizens.

Queen Alia was born on December 25, 1948, in Cairo, where her father, the late Baha Uddin Toukan, was Jordan's ambassador to Egypt, and studied political science at Loyola University in Rome.

Since her marriage to His late Majesty King Al Hussein bin Talal until her passing away, Her Majesty showed a remarkable interest in women's affairs and charitable work, supporting activities to elevate citizens' living standards across the Kingdom.

A model for Jordanian women, she endeavored to promote the contributions of Jordanian women to development goals and worked to empower them and enhance their role across many fields.

In commemoration of the late queen, HH Princess Haya bint Al Hussein embraced an idea of her late mother, setting up Tkiyet Um Ali, which provides assistance to the poor and needy.

As Jordanians today remember the late Queen Alia and pray for her soul, they see Their Royal Highnesses Prince Ali bin Al Hussein and Princess Haya as symbols of giving and dedication in the service of Jordan. Petra
