Ammon News - Jordan is set to experience a significant shift in weather conditions over the coming days, with a cold air mass and a deep low-pressure system approaching from Cyprus, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department.
On Tuesday, the weather will be slightly cold, especially in high-altitude areas, while warmer conditions will prevail in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Scattered high-altitude clouds will be present, and moderate northwesterly winds are expected.
By Wednesday, the kingdom will gradually come under the influence of a very cold air mass accompanying the approaching low-pressure system. A sharp drop in temperatures is forecast, with partly cloudy skies turning overcast. Rainfall will begin in the northern and central regions, gradually spreading to most parts of the country by evening and nighttime.
The rain is expected to be heavy at times, particularly in the north and center, accompanied by thunderstorms and hail, increasing the risk of flash floods and rising water levels in valleys and low-lying areas. Strong westerly winds, with gusts reaching up to 70 km/h, may stir dust, especially in desert regions.
On Thursday, the cold and moist air mass will continue to dominate, bringing further temperature drops. The weather will be very cold, cloudy, and rainy across most areas, with heavy downpours likely at times during the early morning hours. This could lead to more flash floods and rising water levels in valleys.
There is also a possibility of light snow mixed with rain over the highest mountain peaks for a brief period. Strong northwesterly winds will persist, with gusts reaching up to 70 km/h, particularly in desert areas where dust storms may occur. However, by evening, rainfall will gradually subside, and wind speeds will decrease.
On Friday, conditions will stabilize, with partly cloudy skies and cold weather prevailing across most regions. Moderate westerly winds will persist.
The expected maximum and minimum temperatures on Monday are as follows: Eastern Amman 19-6C, Western Amman 17-4C, northern highlands 16-5C, Sharah Mountains 17-3C, desert regions 22-4C, plains 19-7C, northern Jordan Valley 22-9C, southern Jordan Valley 24-13C, Dead Sea 24-12C, and Aqaba 26-13C.
