Labor Minister, World Bank discuss extending national employment program

Ammon News - Minister of Labor Khaled Bakkar met with World Bank representatives to discuss extending the National Employment Program and streamlining its procedures to facilitate greater employment opportunities for Jordanians in the private sector.

According to a ministry statement on Thursday, the discussions took place during Bakkar’s meeting with Cristobal Ridao-Cano, Director of the Social Protection and Labor Sector for the Middle East and North Africa at the World Bank, and Carole Chartouni, Economic Expert in the same sector, on the sidelines of the Second Global Labor Market Conference in Riyadh.

The National Employment Program provides monthly wage support of JD130 for six months, in addition to transportation allowances of JD10 per month for males and females and JD15 per month for females to encourage women's economic participation. It also offers a 10- Jordanian dinar monthly contribution per worker toward social security. Petra
