Ammon News - Incoming US President Donald Trump is expected to issue presidential orders on the first or second day of his term that will lift the sanctions imposed by the Biden administration on dozens of Israeli citizens, Israel Hayom has learned.
The request to lift the sanctions was made to him by occupation Secretary Ron Dermer during a meeting between the two held in Florida, immediately after Trump's victory in the fall. Trump responded positively to the request but noted that he may not have time to sign the orders on the first day, due to prior commitments to other presidential orders.
According to Trump, in such a case, these orders would be issued on the second day of his term. Israeli sources confirmed to Israel Hayom last night (Thursday) that they had received an update on the incoming president's intention to issue the orders next week.
Israel Hayom also learned that State Department officials in the outgoing administration had been working in recent days to impose new sanctions on another group of Israelis living in Judea and Samaria. However, the initiative was halted after officials in the US Treasury Department warned that the move would be canceled immediately upon Trump's inauguration, and that this could cause embarrassment for them.
