Ammon News - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, stressed that Jordan wants Syria to regain its security, stability, sovereignty and unity, noting that he went to Syria at the behest of His Majesty the King to confirm Jordan's support for the Syrians in achieving their aspirations and guaranteeing their rights.
During a press conference held with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan on Monday, Safadi said that today's meeting in Ankara came to coordinate the efforts we are making for the Syrian and Palestinian peoples, adding that the pace of cooperation between Jordan and Turkey will increase in facing the challenges facing the region during this period.
Safadi stressed the need to stand with the Syrians in order to guarantee a future in which they can secure all their rights and provide their daily necessities, and to work for the safe and dignified return of Syrian refugees to their country.
He also reiterated Jordan's rejection of the new Israeli aggression on Syrian territory, which is a clear violation of international law and Syrian sovereignty.
He also stressed that Lebanon's security and stability are a matter of utmost importance and we reject any attack on its sovereignty, and that work is continuing to end the catastrophe that the Palestinian people are facing in Gaza.
We support Turkey in confronting terrorism and any threats to its security and stability, indicating that Jordan and Turkey are the most capable in the region to approach their issues and must have a major role in confronting the challenges in the region, Safadi stated.
For his part, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that since the first day of Assad's fall, his country had been coordinating with Jordan.
During a joint press conference with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi in Ankara Fidan added that stability in Syria is important, as is providing support to the new administration.
The fight against terrorism was discussed with Jordan, in addition to developments in Iraq and the region in general, Fidan added.
He also indicated that there will be upcoming meetings between Turkey, Iraq, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon to discuss the situation.
