Ammon News - The Hebrew newspaper "Israel Hayom" reported that if everything goes well and the budget is approved on time, the defense establishment estimates that it will be possible to build the eastern fence along the Israel-Jordan border within about three years.
According to estimates, the cost of building the fence is estimated at about five billion shekels. The fence is expected to be deployed from Ramon Airport in the south, around which a fence already exists, to about 10 km to the north, through the Dead Sea, the Jordan Valley, reaching several areas on the occupation side, the newspaper said, as Ammon monitored.
The planned length of the fence will be more than 400 km. The Ministry of Defense has already allocated a budget for planning the barrier, and according to estimates, the planning will be completed as early as this March.
If the committee responsible for the project does indeed approve the entire required budget within the appropriate timeframe, and a budgetary source is found for this, upon completion of the planning phase, it will be possible to begin rapid implementation. With several heads of work working simultaneously, it will be possible to complete the construction within about three years and replace the dilapidated to non-existent barrier between Israel and Jordan. This will make it possible to prevent infiltration into Israel, as well as the smuggling of weapons.
The work will be carried out according to prioritization of areas, according to proximity to settlements, and according to places prone to smuggling.
