Ammon News - The Aqaba meetings on Syria kicked off with a meeting of the Arab Ministerial Contact Committee on Syria, which includes Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt and the Secretary General of the Arab League, in the presence of the foreign ministers of the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, the current chair of the Arab summit, and Qatar.
The committee will then hold a meeting with the foreign ministers of Turkey, United States, France, and representatives of the other members of the Select Committee on Syria, the United Kingdom and Germany, as well as the High Representative for Foreign Policy of the European Union and the UN envoy for Syria.
The meetings will discuss ways to support an inclusive Syrian-led political process to achieve a transition in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2254 that meets the aspirations of the Syrian people, ensures the rebuilding of Syrian state institutions, and preserves Syria's unity, territorial integrity, sovereignty, security, stability, and the rights of all its citizens.
