Ammon News - The number of checks traded in Jordan during the first eleven months of 2024 reached 5.84 million, with a value of JD36.34 billion, according to the Jordan Payments and Clearing Company (JOPAC).
Statistics by JOPAC showed that the number of returned checks in Jordan decreased in November, reaching 13,000 in November, compared to 18.7,000 in October.
The value of returned checks in November amounted to JD82 million, compared to JD123 million in October 2024, while its percentage of the total number of checks in the past month amounted to 2.7%.
8,711 thousand returned checks worth JD57.9 million in November were for financial reasons, while 4,277 thousand checks worth JD24.3 million were for technical reasons, with the percentage of returned checks for financial reasons reaching 70.5% compared to 29.5% for technical reasons, the statistics added.
During last November, the number of checks in circulation in Jordan reached 451 thousand checks, compared to 583 thousand checks in the previous October, a decrease of 22.7%.
The value of cheques in circulation during last November amounted to JD3.05 billion Jordanian, compared to JD3.61 billion in October of the same year, a decrease of 15.5%.
