Ammon News - Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday that it was President Vladimir Putin's decision to grant Bashar al-Assad asylum in Russia.

The Kremlin also said that it was too early to say what the future would hold for Russia's military bases in Syria, adding that it was a subject of discussion with those who will be in power.

Earlier Interfax news agency reported that the security of Russia's military bases is fully ensured, citing a senior Russian lawmaker.

The lawmaker said Russia will give a harsh response if its bases are attacked.
