Vehicles licenses, registrations provide treasury with JD117 million

Ammon News - *The government expects to collect JD145 million from vehicle licenses and registrations in 2025.

Ammon News- Ahmad Alhyari- The government's revenue from vehicle registration and driving licenses in 2023 amounted to JD117.35 million, compared to JD115.4 million in 2022, an increase of approximately 1.7%, according to the 2025 draft budget.

In the details, seen by Ammon, the value of government collections from "vehicle driving" licenses in 2023 amounted to about JD75.815 million, a decrease of about JD288,000 thousand from the collections achieved from this item in 2022, which amounted to JD76.103 million according to the 2025 draft budget law.

As for the current year's estimates for revenues from vehicle driving licenses, the government estimated collecting JD97 million for the current year, and re-estimating this item remained at the same value according to the 2025 draft budget, expecting it to rise to JD100 million next year.

Vehicle registration licenses for 2023 amounted to approximately JD41.356 million, up 5% from the JD39.267 million recorded in 2022, according to the draft budget law 2025.

However, the re-estimation of the vehicle registration licenses item decreased in 2024 to JD40 million compared to the estimate for the same year at JD55 million.

The government expects, in next year’s draft budget, to achieve JD45 million from this item.

As for the government’s revenues from vehicle market licenses in 2023, they amounted to approximately JD21.1 million in 2023, an increase compared to the government’s revenues from the same item in 2022, which amounted to JD18.653 million.

The government has raised its estimates for vehicle market licensing revenues from JD21 million in 2024 to JD22 million in 2025.

Public vehicle number fees recorded a revenue for the government of JD3.55 million, an increase of 61% in 2023, compared to JD2.202 million recorded in 2022, and the government expects to collect JD6 million from public vehicle number fees in 2025.

The Cabinet decided to exempt vehicles with expired licenses for several years. This exemption will apply to any fines incurred up until December 31.

Additionally, the measure includes waiving acquisition fees for vehicles that have been unlicensed for over a year, as well as any relevant re-licensing fees, all valid until the end of the year.

This decision aims to reduce the financial burden on vehicle owners and streamline the process for re-licensing long-unlicensed vehicles. It also seeks to enhance road safety and ensure the well-being of the public.
