Ammon News - The Israeli occupation army and police announced in a joint statement that they thwarted an attempt to smuggle 14 pistols and more than 65 weapons in the Jordan Valley region on Monday.
The Hebrew newspaper Jerusalem Post reported, quoting the occupation army, that the arms smugglers were intercepted near Prince Mohammed Bridge from the Jordanian side and (Damia Bridge) from the occupied territories side.
It added that one of the suspects was arrested and transferred to the central unit with the seized weapons.
It is noteworthy that the aforementioned bridge is located on the Jordan River near the Damia area in the central Jordan Valley, and was built during the Mamluk period, and was later renovated several times in the twentieth century, and was used to transport goods and people, until Israel closed it in 2005.
