Ammon News - Findings from a public opinion survey carried out by the Kafa'a Center for Performance Indicators indicated that the level of voter satisfaction and trust in the outcomes of the Jordanian parliamentary elections for 2024 attained 89.4%.

This occurred during the unveiling ceremony of the Compliance Index Report for Oversight of the Parliamentary Elections for 2024, hosted under the guidance of Musa Maaytah, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission.

During the launch ceremony, Maaytah emphasized that the poll results demonstrate the Independent Election Commission's dedication to standards of integrity and transparency, as well as the adherence to the law in overseeing the electoral process.

Maaytah believed that these methods for gathering information constitute a significant advancement in assessing and enhancing the Commission's performance, emphasizing the necessity of collaboration with pertinent institutions and organizations to guarantee the elections' success as a collective national obligation.

He noted that the collaboration of national initiatives improves the effectiveness and impartiality of the electoral process and demonstrates a genuine commitment to international standards.

He described how the Commission takes a continuous approach to leverage past electoral experiences and assess their outcomes in collaboration with partners, aiming to improve accomplishments and tackle any areas needing enhancement.

In this regard, Al-Maaytah disclosed initiatives to establish new methods for managing electoral propaganda in collaboration with pertinent authorities, intending to improve discipline in the electoral process.

He indicated a research project being carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Economy regarding the potential use of digital identity via the "Sand" application to streamline electoral processes for citizens, while also complying with the personal card provided by the Civil Status and Passports Department.

The opinion survey covered various aspects, such as personal details, voter contentment regarding voting privacy, their knowledge of rights, the influence of awareness initiatives on voter participation, the efficiency of educational and promotional strategies, the promptness in addressing grievances and complaints, the satisfaction of complainants with the complaints handling process, and the reliability of information shared with the public.

The CEO of the Kafa’a Center, Moaz Al-Mobaideen, noted that the performance index relies on global benchmarks, including the “Declaration of Principles for International Election Observation” released by the United Nations in 2005, alongside human rights treaties like the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.

Al-Mobaideen mentioned that the index is grounded in the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s 1994 criteria for fair and free elections, as well as international transparency benchmarks, aiming to boost trust in the electoral process while guaranteeing the utmost levels of integrity and neutrality.

The report indicated that the Independent Election Commission achieved an 83% compliance and commitment rate for the procedures assigned to it, evaluated against 13 monitoring standards.

The report highlighted that the regulatory compliance benchmarks for the 2024 parliamentary elections encompassed several key areas, the most significant of which were: access to polling stations: 6.6 out of 10, vote secrecy: 8 out of 10, multi-party fair competition: 10 out of 10, election oversight: 8.8 out of 10, effectiveness of educational programs: 5.3 out of 10, electoral registration: 10 out of 10, precision and updating of electoral records: 10 out of 10, efficiency in managing electoral complaints: 7.2 out of 10, accuracy of electoral information provided: 8.3 out of 10, adherence to data protection laws: 10 out of 10, transparency in electoral campaign financing: 8.3 out of 10, media and advertising coverage: 6 out of 10, accuracy and transparency of election results: 9 out of 10.
