King from London: Inability to conclude war will escalate conflict and increase violence

Ammon News - His Majesty King Abdullah II cautioned, in his meeting with British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer in London on Wednesday, that the ongoing inability to resolve the war in Gaza and Lebanon risks escalating the conflict and intensifying violence throughout the region.

His Majesty and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, in a bilateral meeting followed by a larger conference at the British government’s headquarters, emphasized the urgent necessity for an immediate ceasefire, urging efforts to de-escalate the situation and improve the humanitarian response in Gaza by increasing relief aid and ensuring its unobstructed access.

His Majesty and Prime Minister Starmer emphasized that the Israeli choice to prohibit the operations of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) will worsen the humanitarian disaster in Gaza.

His Majesty and the British Prime Minister also cautioned about the perilous situation in the West Bank, emphasizing the importance of halting the violence.

His Majesty highlighted Britain's crucial position in striving to resolve regional disputes and attain a fair and inclusive peace grounded in the two-state solution.

Concerning bilateral ties, His Majesty emphasized the profound strategic connection between the two nations, acknowledging the United Kingdom's assistance to Jordan in various domains.

His Majesty the King emphasized the ongoing collaboration with the United Kingdom on several matters of shared interest, particularly during its Security Council presidency this month.

The British Prime Minister emphasized that a significant, lengthy, and common history connects the two nations, voicing appreciation for the robustness of these ties and the collaboration present at multiple levels.

Starmer conveyed his nation's eagerness to persist in collaborating with Jordan on regional developments and initiatives aimed at achieving comprehensive tranquility.

The gathering was joined by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, as well as the Director of His Majesty's Office, Eng. Alaa Batayneh and Manar Dabbas, Jordan's Ambassador to the UK.
