After 5 a.m., as time continued to move forward. At 10:00 GMT on the US East Coast, voting centers in Vermont began operating. The first polling station to welcome voters was located in Dixville Notch, a small town in New Hampshire.

Out of the 230 million eligible voters, only around 160 million are currently registered. Nonetheless, approximately half of the 50 states within the United States permit registration on Election Day, with the exception of North Dakota where citizens can vote without prior registration.

Over 70 million individuals have already cast their votes either by mail or at early voting locations in what has been deemed the most intense and thrilling event in the history of US elections, with concerns about potential violence erupting after the results are revealed.

Apart from the presidential election, voters will also cast their ballots for 34 out of 100 US Senate members and all 435 members of the US House of Representatives. Furthermore, there will be gubernatorial elections in 11 states and two territories, Puerto Rico and American Samoa.

The United States covers six different time zones. Voting will commence at 5 a.m. in US Eastern Standard Time. The event will start at 10:00 GMT on Tuesday and will last until 1 a.m. At 06:00 GMT on Wednesday.

Regardless of the winner, Americans will experience a historic event: they will choose between electing a female president for the first time or re-electing a candidate who has been convicted of crimes and faced numerous prosecutions, whose first term from 2017 to 2021 stirred up a series of disturbances and surprises in the country and globally.

Recent polls indicate a virtual tie between the candidates in key states that will secure enough electoral votes for the Democratic or Republican nominee to reach the 270-vote threshold needed to win. "Organizations"
