Almost 11,923 Palestinian students killed in Gaza and West Bank

Ammon News - The Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education reported that 11,923 students have been killed and 19,199 students injured during the Israeli aggression since October 7, 2023 in Gaza and the West Bank.

According to a statement released today by the ministry, the total number of Palestinian students who have died in the Gaza Strip due to Israeli attacks is now over 11,808, with 18,596 students being injured. In the West Bank, 115 students have been killed and 603 others wounded, along with 450 students being arrested.

The report showed that 561 teachers and administrators were killed, with 3,729 being wounded in Gaza Strip and West Bank, and over 148 were detained in the West Bank.

She highlighted that in the Gaza Strip, a total of 341 government schools, universities, and their structures, as well as 65 affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), were targeted with bombings and vandalism, with 138 being severely impacted and 77 completely demolished. Furthermore, a total of 84 schools and 7 universities in the West Bank were forcefully entered and damaged.

The Ministry of Education in Gaza has verified that 788,000 students are unable to go to school due to the ongoing aggression. The majority of students struggle with mental health issues and physical ailments.

She highlighted that the frequent occupation raids in the Jenin and Tulkarm governorates have instilled fear in students at their schools.
