03-11-2024 12:39 PM

Ammon News - The Jordanian Marathon Association, known as "Run Jordan," is making final preparations to host the Ayla Red Sea Half Marathon, which will take place on Friday, December 7, in Aqaba.

This year marks the 18th edition of the event, held under the patronage of His Highness Prince Firas bin Raad. The marathon is themed "Run for Noble Causes," reinforcing the association's ongoing commitment to promoting health and fitness while supporting charitable initiatives through community engagement.

In a significant move, 20% of the ticket sales will be donated to aid relief efforts in Gaza, facilitated by the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, adding a humanitarian aspect to this annual sporting event.

Lina Al-Kurd, General Director of Run Jordan, expressed enthusiasm for the event, noting Aqaba's unique combination of natural beauty and advanced tourism infrastructure. She stated, "We are excited to host the Ayla Red Sea Half Marathon in Aqaba, a city that offers an exceptional sporting and tourism experience."

Participants can register online via the association’s website, www.RunJordan.com, until November 30 in Amman from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

In Aqaba, registration will be available at the Aqaba Stadium from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, from November 26 until December 6.

The marathon is organized in collaboration with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority and is sponsored for the 18th consecutive year by Ayla Oasis Development Company. Gold sponsors include the Greater Amman Municipality, the Jordan Tourism Board, and the Aqaba Development Corporation.

Support from various media, advertising organizations, security agencies, and charitable groups that provide volunteers ensures that this marathon successfully integrates sports, tourism, and philanthropic efforts into a unified national celebration.
