Ammon News - The US Central Command announced, at dawn on Sunday, the arrival of strategic bombers of the "B-52" type to the Middle East region.

The US Central Command said in a post on its official account on "X": "The strategic bombers B-52 Stratofortress arrived from the 5th Bomb Wing at Minot Air Force Base to the Central Command area of responsibility."

The United States had announced, on Friday, the deployment of new military capabilities in the Middle East that will arrive "in the coming months" in a move that comes "in defense of Israel" and as a warning to Iran, according to a statement issued by the Pentagon.

What do we know about the "B-52"?
The roots of the American bomber B-52 date back to the 1940s, when the United States began thinking about a heavy strategic bomber after World War II.

Boeing, along with several competing companies, quickly submitted offers to the Air Force to design the aircraft, and the giant company succeeded in obtaining the design contract.

After numerous negotiations and rejected models, Boeing succeeded in designing an aircraft that was lighter and faster than the initial design, and after 6 years, in 1952, the prototypes began to enter the production phase.

"Terrifying" features

The B-52 bomber can fly with a payload of up to 31,500 kilograms, and has an amazing operational range of more than 14,000 kilometers, without air refueling.

The B-52 bomber represents a real "terror" for the enemies of the United States, as it is amazingly armed, and has the ability to carry nuclear weapons on top of 12 advanced AGM-129 cruise missiles, and 20 AGM-86A cruise missiles.

The huge bomber also supports a comprehensive list of weapons to carry out a wide range of conventional missions: including AGM-84 Harpoon missiles, Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAM), AGM-142 Raptor and AGM-86C conventional air missiles, and cruise missiles (CALCM).
