Ammon News - The Arab League urged the Security Council, the global community, and powerful countries to fulfill their duties and compel Israel to cease its attacks on Gaza, and ensure it allows the delivery of necessary humanitarian assistance to the residents of the region.
Today, on Saturday, a statement was released to mark the 107th anniversary of the issuance of the Balfour Declaration by the British Foreign Secretary, which established a national homeland for the Jews in Palestine in 1917, leading to the tragic events that affected the Palestinian people.
The League insisted on rectifying the historical error and urged Britain and other nations to recognize the Palestinian state to promote peace based on the two-state solution. It emphasized that ending the Israeli occupation of Palestinian and Arab territories since 1967 and establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital is crucial for achieving comprehensive, fair, and lasting peace in accordance with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
It also criticized the Israeli Knesset's move to obstruct the operations of the "UNRWA" agency in Palestinian territories, which is seen as another clear breach of the United Nations Charter, global consensus, and humanitarian principles.
