Ammon News - Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati refuted claims made by Reuters that the United States had requested Lebanon to announce a one-sided ceasefire with Israel in a statement.
Another Lebanese official source also refuted the claim to Sky News Arabia.
According to the official Lebanese source, in response to Reuters' report, there is no validity to the claim. The American side did not bring up the issue, and Lebanon made it clear that a ceasefire should be the main focus before any further discussions.
Reuters reported that a Lebanese political source and a top diplomat stated that the United States requested Lebanon to announce a "one-sided" ceasefire with Israel.
The two sources stated that Amos Hochstein, US envoy to Lebanon, requested Lebanon to announce a one-sided truce with Israel this week. This is part of the push to progress talks for resolving the year-long conflict.
They added that Hochstein conveyed the proposal to Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati. "Sky News + Reuters"
