Sisi, CIA chief discuss 'calm' in Gaza

Ammon News - Today, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi met with Director of the US Central Intelligence Agency, William Burns, to talk about current progress in collaborative attempts to achieve peace in the Gaza Strip.

This occurred in a meeting with both parties, with the Egyptian General Intelligence Service leader Hassan Rashad in Cairo, as stated by the Egyptian presidency, amid Israel's deadly war on Gaza.

The Egyptian presidency stated that the meeting focused on the most recent advancements in collaborative activities to ease tensions in Gaza, as well as strategies to advance talks for a ceasefire and prisoner exchanges.

The official statement mentioned that the meeting also discussed the urgent need for Egypt to prioritize the immediate and full distribution of humanitarian aid due to the worsening conditions in the Strip.

El-Sisi emphasized the significance of UNRWA's vital role and the need to support its operations. He also highlighted the significance of the two-state solution in achieving peace and security in the region.

The discussion at the meeting focused on "the current situation in Lebanon and the recent increase in tensions in the region," with Sisi emphasizing "the need to quickly achieve a ceasefire in Lebanon."

He emphasized the importance of a ceasefire in Lebanon ensuring its sovereignty, territorial integrity, stability, and the security of its people. Sisi cautioned about the risks of ongoing escalation in the region and its serious consequences for all regional populations.
