Macron strengthens ties with Morocco

Ammon News - French President Emmanuel Macron will be in Morocco from October 28 to 30, following an invitation from King Mohammed VI of Morocco.

According to a declaration from the Royal Office, discussions were held at the Royal Palace yesterday between the heads of state of the two nations to create a fresh foundation for a remarkable strategic alliance that will continue in the long term. The focus will mainly be on enhancing the Euro-Mediterranean, African, and Atlantic focus through a collaborative approach aimed at promoting prosperity, as well as human and sustainable development.

President Macron and King Mohammed VI emphasized the importance of addressing social and economic challenges to create a stable and prosperous Euro-Mediterranean region.

The President of France commended King Mohammed VI, who serves as the Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, for his positive contribution to promoting peace in the Middle East.

The two leaders demanded an immediate halt to attacks in Gaza and Lebanon, emphasizing the need to protect civilians, ensure adequate humanitarian aid, and stop escalating tensions in the region.


They also emphasized the importance of restarting the peace negotiations under the two-state solution, with an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital.

The signing ceremony of 22 agreements and memoranda of understanding in various sectors like trade, energy, transport, education, agriculture, and innovation was presided over by the Moroccan monarch and the French president at the Guest Palace. Below is a comprehensive roster of these agreements:

- The Director General of the National Office of Railways, Mohamed Rabie Khlie, and the Director General of Alstom, Henri Poupart-Lafarge, signed an agreement on the import of high-speed trains.

- The Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, and the French Minister of Economy, Finance, Industrial and Digital Sovereignty signed a document outlining their commitment to financial cooperation in the railway industry.

- An agreement between Sistra Egis and the National Office of Railways;

- An agreement for the provision of rail fasteners between the National Office of Railways and Vossloh Cogifer;

Execution of the Moroccan proposal for the green hydrogen industry: concluding a deal with TotalEnergies;

- Strategic alliance for collaboration in the areas of energy, communication, and energy transition.

- Agreement between Morocco and Safran to establish a facility for servicing and repairing aircraft engines.

- Statement of Purpose to enhance collaboration in civil protection activities

- Pledge to enhance the safeguarding of natural habitats.

- Statement of Purpose regarding ports sector.

- Agreement in the water sector.

- Agreement on Collaboration in Education for 2024-2026;

- Agreement framework within the agriculture and forestry industry;

- Statement of Purpose in the realm of higher education, innovation, and research;

- Statement of Purpose regarding Cultural Collaboration;

- Pledge to Back the Development and Organization of Cultural and Creative Industry and Video Games Ecosystem;

- Agreement to Establish the Moroccan-French Investment Acceleration Center.

- Agreement between the Office Chérifien des Phosphates and the French Development Agency regarding decarbonization.

- Agreement for development in energy transition between OCP Group and Engie.

- Agreement for the continuation of the Taza wind farm project's second phase;

- Agreement between CMA-CGM and Tangier Med;

- Agreement on the CRFM, a joint French-Moroccan Research Centre, in a Memorandum of Understanding.
