Britain expresses deep concern over Israeli Knesset's decision to ban UNRWA

29-10-2024 11:14 AM

Ammon News - British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed his country's deep concern over two laws passed by the Israeli Knesset that ban the work of UNRWA.

Starmer stressed in a statement on Tuesday that the two laws threaten to make UNRWA's vital efforts to help the Palestinians impossible, undermine the comprehensive humanitarian response in Gaza, and hinder the provision of essential health and education services in the West Bank.

The British Prime Minister stressed the need for Israel, in accordance with its international obligations, to ensure that adequate aid reaches civilians in Gaza.

He pointed out that the humanitarian situation in Gaza is unacceptable, calling for an immediate ceasefire and a significant increase in humanitarian aid to Gaza.
