CBJ: JD569 million insurance premiums until end of last August

Ammon News - Insurance premiums increased by 10.3% by the end of last August, compared to the same period in 2023, while the volume of compensation increased by about 10.4% in eight months of 2024.

According to data from the Central Bank of Joran (CBJ), total insurance premiums, in 8 months of the current year, reached JD569 million, compared to JD516 million for the same period in 2023, while vehicle insurance received the largest share in terms of premiums, with more than 32%, or JD189 million, then medical insurance came in second place with approximately JD180 million.

The value of compensation paid by insurance companies since the beginning of 2024 until the end of last August, according to Al-Mamlaka, amounted to JD362 million, compared to about JD328 million for the same period in 2023, as in premiums, vehicle insurance came in as the most expensive type of insurance for which companies compensate their customers, at JD176 million, followed by medical insurance, at about JD131 million.

Insurance company clients filed 1,154 complaints during 8 months, 97.6% of which were related to vehicle insurance, while settlements between companies and clients reached 317 settlements during this period.
