Ammon News - The Cabinet approved an amended system for the Special Tax System for the year 2024, according to which the special tax on gasoline vehicles was reduced and increased progressively on the higher-priced brackets of electric vehicles.
The amendments aim to reduce the gap between the special tax imposed on electric vehicles and other vehicles, while keeping the special tax imposed on electric vehicles lower than the tax imposed on other alternative vehicles.
The system also included amending the tax imposed on smoking, in line with the national strategy to combat tobacco and smoking in all its forms, and to limit the rapid spread of smoking by electronic means among all individuals, especially children, in addition to addressing the large differences in the tax imposed on traditional cigarettes and other alternatives to them.
