EU Election Observer Mission: Jordan successfully holds elections despite regional events

Ammon News - Zeljana Zovko, Chief Observer of the European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM), said that, Jordan succeeded in holding parliamentary elections despite the turbulent regional events, most notably the war on Gaza.
Zovko added, during a press conference held on Thursday, that the 2024 parliamentary elections made the Jordanian House of Representatives more inclusive, noting that the elections were comprehensive and well-organized in the context of the reform process.

She stressed that the elections showed integrity in their implementation, despite minor loopholes related to the financing and promotion of the parties’ election campaigns during the electoral silence.
The final report and recommendations for the elections will be in two months, she said, adding that the mission is neutral in its work to monitor the elections.
The EU EOM to Jordan consists of 120 observers from the 27 EU Member States and from Canada, Norway and Switzerland, as well as a delegation of seven members of the European Parliament and 32 diplomats accredited to Amman.
